3 Hens & A Chick

The “hens & a chick” (four transplants from “off”) met in a class called “Chocolate Club” at a quilt shop called “Quilters Combo.” As we talked and shared our common ground – quilting – we became friends. Not long after that we heard that the quilt shop was going to close. We talked about how neat it would be to open our own quilt shop in the Athens area. Our dream came true when we opened 3 Hens & A Chick Quilt Shop on March 1, 2014.  Here we are still going strong and entering our 4th year .  This last year we said goodbye to Anne and Andrea as they both retired to enjoy traveling with their husbands.  We welcomed two new owners, Carol and Cheryl into the nest. They are wonderful ladies and have been a great addition, bringing their experience and love of quilting. See you at the shop!!

Vicki Kellogg:

Hometown, Charleston, SC Been in the Athens area 9 years Been quilting about 12 year Self taught I was in a fabric store looking for heirloom sewing supplies and when I spotted a quilt pattern (fan quilt) and thought I can do that. That was the beginning. It wasn’t until I joined a quilt guild, I found out there are rules for quilting. After a few years of frustration trying to follow all the rules, I went back to doing things my own way. I still have period of frustration, but I am having more fun. I like brights, whimsicals, batiks and most of the Moda fabrics. My background is in accounting, inventory control and importing and exporting hazardous materials.

In 2014 I was introduced to 3 Hens and a Chick Quilt Shop by a friend who asked me to take a class with her. Loved the “Hens & Chick” and the Quilt Shop – I was hooked!!
